This wheel-thrown weedpot is made from dark stoneware and finished in a crawling shino glaze. As the glaze shrinks and cracks, the firing process pulls it further from the surface, revealing glimpses of the clay beneath. The result is a textured, layered surface full of movement and subtle contrasts, unique to each piece. This piece is especially textured. The glaze was applied thickly, creating a dramatically raised beaded surface.
