This piece is part of a small five-piece series finished in a lava glaze I developed through extensive testing. The glaze requires very specific firing conditions to create its cratered, layered surface, conditions that have since changed at my community studio, making this series limited for the foreseeable future.
On this form, the glaze melted into a smooth, cratered surface, gathering in thick pools and thinning across other areas. The result is a surface full of depth and natural variation.
